i’ve been bad.
become the queen of e.vil.
there is almost nothing more fun that collaborating on lookbooks. i love being able to take a designer’s vision and translating that into an image. when working with one of my fave photogs Aydin Arjomand and the NY-based Queen of E.vil, the look was stylized and a touch over-the-top. matching the brands acerbic and witty tone, the models were dolled-up and wigged-out. the newest nars obesession.
by now, you know i’m a huge Nars fan. i worked for the company pre-freelance and i continue to covet their products years later. this summer, their newest addition to the family is their Eyeliner Stylo. eyeliner stylos are the modern answer to liquid lining. tons of companies offer pen eyeliners, but this one is the cream of the crop. with a fine-point felt tip, the intensely pigmented formula glides on easily (i like to powder down the eye first, the pen will grip better.) if you need to go back over your line, the product layers well; sometimes layering can breakdown the pigment leaving holes or splotches. while not waterproof, it’s definitely smudge-proof and super long-wearing. the four shades are must-have basics: Carpates (black), Nuku Hiva (brown), Atlantic (navy) and Koala (grey.)
the sky is open with veronica webb
recently i had the opportunity to work with the Open Sky Project. Open Sky is a shopping website that promises to be more than a shopping website; they bring together over 80 people from the fashion, food, kids, home and healthy living realms. these curators select their favorite items from their genre from you to shop from. Veronica Webb is one of those curators and i worked on a photoshoot featuring her modeling her fave fall fashion pics.
arriving at Fast Ashley’s Studio in Williamsburg, Veronica is one of the most stunning people i’ve ever seen in person. not only is she breathtaking to watch model, but she’s also extremely down-to-earth and a peach to work with. with George Ortiz on hair, we created a soft fall look to complement the jewel-toned and cozy fall fashions. George gave Veronica two hair options: wavy and soft and sleek and straight. i made her glow with clean skin and varied pops of color on the lip. get the look here: Continue reading
glam mural, east village style.
creating NYC looks the UK way.
a full day of shooting with an amazing UK crew + an awesome concept = creative gold. the Brits from Glamour UK wanted to create very specific looks for three different New York City neighborhoods: Williamsburg, the Upper East Side and Soho. it was fun being the sole New Yorker on-set because i got the be the expert about all things NYC. the looks we created were based on specific inspirations cultivated by stylist Tilly Hardy and shot by Paul McLaughlin. it was my (fun) job to translate that into beauty. check out these amazing looks below.

how to look like a lookbook.
i love working on fashion projects because you’re collaborating on a look that represents the designer’s collection. i recently worked on Wai Ming‘s Spring/Summer 2013 lookbook. it’s easy to get this tres chic look:
steal of the day.
the summer is all about body and Nivea Body’s Essentially Enriched Lotion is the key to healthy skin. It’s rich but lightweight and leaves the skin hydrated all day. With almond oil, vitamin E and sea minerals, this high-octane hydrator will transform your skin from seared and sad to supple and sexy. using Nivea’s Hydra IQ technology, it mimics and maintains your skin’s natural moisture. also, i love to use this moisturizer on-set because it leaves the skin with an amazing glow. and at under $6 it’s definitely the steal of the day!
